Cumberland County outlines trick-or-treat times

print friendly

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office has designated 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, as official times for trick-or-treating in the county. Door-to-door candy collection should be completed within those hours, the sheriff's office said.

The sheriff's office offered these other safety guidelines:

  • Motorists should watch for children darting out from between parked cars, crossing streets and walking on roadways.
  • Parents should accompany trick-or-treaters.
  • Children should not eat any treat until a parent inspects it.
  • Children should have their name, address and phone number on their costumes in case they become lost.
  • Children should not enter homes without adult supervision.

The police state marches on. The worst tricks I ever saw on Halloween were in the 60s....things seem pretty tame these days. If you don't want to participate, just flick off the porch light.

Halloween ain't nothing but the devil's holiday. Parents need to keep their kids home and quit celebrating this day.

See, folks, this is what you get when you expect the government to run all the details of your life. Why in earth is the Sheriff dictating trick-or-treat hours? If you don't want your kids out after 8:30, then get`em or keep them home. If you don't want kids ringing you bell after 8:30, then turn off the porch lights or put a note on the door, whatever. You certainly aren't obligated to answer it Anytime you don't want to. It's little things like this that matter. Come on, folks, don't get used to the powers that be running your life for you!

If ya'll come to my house I'll hand out the beer!!

I like that no costume no treat rule... but I guess youre right about the tricks....
