Clayton, N.C. — A construction contractor broke a large water main on N.C. Highway 42 near Interstate 40 Friday morning, officials said.

An area of the Johnston County water system in the Cleveland community was out of service until about 3 p.m. Friday while utility crews isolated and repaired the break.

Customers who have water service interrupted would be under a boil-water advisory until further notice, officials said.
