Site SearchSanford, N.C. — The state Highway Patrol says two men were killed Monday evening in a head-on crash near Sanford.
It happened at about 8:30 p.m. on Highway 87, near the Carolina Trace development.
Troopers say Michael S. Reel, 32, of Fayetteville, crossed the center line in his blue Buick and hit Paul J. Gilmore, 57, of Sanford, who was driving a burgundy Cadillac.
Both men died at the scene, officials said.
Traffic was backed up along Highway 87 while the wreckage was cleared.
Troopers said there was no indication that alcohol was a factor, however, they were waiting for toxicology reports to come back.
