The N.C. Department of Transportation will close the Burton Road railroad crossing Tuesday. Cars will no longer be allowed to cross the railroad at that location.
The closure is part of an ongoing effort to eliminate less-safe crossings.
Drivers will be re-directed to the Red Mill Road crossing just to the east.
