Joshua McCabe Bailey - Silver Alert 8/22

An Orange County grand jury on Monday indicted nine suspects in connection with the kidnapping and slaying of a Chapel Hill man reported missing last month.

Authorities found the body of Joshua McCabe Bailey, 20, on Sept. 12 near Jordan Lake in Chatham County. An autopsy determined that he died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Six men – Brandon Hamilton Greene, 26; Ryan Ladar Davis Lee, 20; Jack Johnson II, 19; Brian Gregory Minton, 18; Jacob Alexander Maxwell, 18, and Matt Johnson – face face first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping charges

Three other people – Gregory Lee Minton, 41, Mishele Slade Minton, 37, and Chris Manley, 23 – each face a charge of accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.

Investigators say they believe Matt Johnson was the one who shot and killed Bailey on July 29 and that Gregory Minton gave instructions on moving the body and that Mishele Minton helped buy supplies to assist in the move.

If you are involved in any crime where murder is committed....even if you are just driving the car....you are also guilty of murder.

Mitch writes: "Why is it that every time I read this same story there is never any explanation of motive? What was the relationship between the accused and the victim? Why did they do this? Aren't these things integral to understanding what this story is about? Aren't these some of the basic tenets of journalism?"

did the investigators provide motive to the media?

Remembrance Planned **For those interested, a brief candlelight remembrance will be held by psychiatric patients at the Watts Street Baptist Church for Joshua Bailey on Oct. 7th. Family Advocacy Network views on teaching children obedience to authority figures will also be discussed. Unlike the Sept. 20th event of the Mental Health Association-Orange County, this is not a fundraiser on this tragedy.

If you are involved in a crime that leads to a murder then you too are guilty of 1st degree murder, even if you didn't personally kill anyone....

If Matt Johnson was the one who shot and killed the guy, why are the other 8 men charged with 1st degree murder also? I guess they kidnapped him and they must have been holding him while the gun was fired or somethings thus considered accomplices?? This is really a shame. I personally knew Jack Johnson well when he was growing up (12-14 y.o.) and he was a good kid...I never would have imagined he could or would do something like this although I had heard he took a different path when he graduated high school. Just a shame. I feel for the family of the boy who died and his friends.
