Autopsy: Wilson woman was stabbed

An autopsy reveals that a Wilson County woman was stabbed to death before being left in a ravine along Green Pond Road.

A pedestrian found the body of Roberta Ann Fulghum, 45, on July 29 between U.S. Highway 264 and Countryside Road.

Wilson deputies used fingerprints to identify her.

She had been dead “for a period of time,” said Maj. John Farmer, with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, and decomposition made it hard to determine the cause of death.

The state medical examiner found that Fulghum had been stabbed multiple times in the chest, abdomen and left leg.

The Wilson County Sheriff's Office has identified a person they are looking for in the case. He is described as a middle-aged white man, 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 250 to 300 pounds. He had gray or graying hair and wore glasses. He drove a red pickup truck with white writing on the sides.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office at 252-237-2118 or Wilson Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.

The governor’s office and local authorities have offered rewards totaling $7,500 for information leading to an arrest.

What a horrible way to find out how your loved one died! I know the law enforcement officers are working diligently to find out who did this. I can't wait until he/she/it! is brought before the jury! My prayers to all those that loved Ann.

I have just read in the Wilson Times newspaper that the media put the autopsy report out before the family even received the results. Thanks to the state medical examiners office. What a harsh way for her children and the rest of Ann's family to learn how their loved one was murdered. Ann - I pray that whoever did this to you will be located soon and pay the price for what they have done. I also pray for Ann's family during this time and always.

May you rest in peace, Ann. Heaven knows you didn't deserve this. We (J, J, & A) are praying they find who did this horrible act.

God bless you in Heaven, Ann~~~ You didn't deserve this. You were a good nurse and a caring, funny lady...

If more ladies carried .22's, their own knives, pepper-spray or a loyal German Shepherd, etc. ... fewer heinous crimes like this would be committed against women by sicko cowards...

Everybody in Wilson Co. and beyond add $5-$10 to this fund, and maybe someone will speak up. One less murdering b. running around Wilson...and your family.

I know a lot men are glad they don't have a red truck
