Vigil held for missing Granville mother

Family and friends held a vigil at a church for a missing Granville County woman on Friday night.

Kelly Morris, 28, was last seen the night of Sept. 3 by her husband, Scott Morris, and two children at her home at 3220 Tump Wilkins Road in Stem. The home caught on fire the next day, and police found Morris' car, keys, purse and cell phone in an undeveloped subdivision.

Supporters of Morris gathered at First Baptist Church in Creedmoor around 7 p.m. Friday. They lit candles, listened to singers and prayed together.

The fire at Morris' home has been classified as arson, and Granville County Sheriff David Smith has named Morris' husband, Scott, a person of interest in her disappearance.

At the time of the fire, there was no sign that Morris was in the home, Scott Morris was at work and the couples' two children were at school, investigators said.

Wanda Hollis, Morris' mother, said that her daughter's marriage was strained and that she had considered leaving her husband.
