Greenville, N.C. — A Tennesse man has been arrested for assaulting an East Carolina University student.

ECU police said that Michael Mewborn, 27, of 184 Sugar Plum Lane in Telford, Tenn., assaulted a female student int he lobby areas of Fletcher Residence Hall. Three other students subdued Mewborn and held him until police arrived.

The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Mewborn was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, assault by strangulation, kidnapping and trespassing. He was being held in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $750,000 bond.
