Rocky Mount, N.C. — A former Rocky Mount High School teacher was charged Tuesday with having sex with a student, police said.
Kelly Bartz, 39, of Lafayette Avenue in Rocky Mount, was charged with sexual activity with a student by a teacher. The charge stems from an incident that was alleged to have occurred on June 20, police said.
Bartz resigned as an English teacher at Rocky Mount High on June 30, according to a spokeswoman for Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools. She had worked for the district since 1997.
