Little Eva's grave

In the eastern North Carolina town of Belhaven, there is an old cemetery in disrepair. It is an all-black graveyard known as Black Bottom Cemetery.

On the edge of that cemetery, in an all but unmarked grave, lies Eve Boyd, better known as Little Eva, the singer of the ‘60s hit song "Locomotion." Her family couldn’t afford much when she was buried.

After seeing a story on WRAL-TV, a local monument-maker has come forward and, as part of the cemetery’s overall restoration, has volunteered to help build a proper monument to the pop star. His efforts are just getting under way.

Stay tuned. WRAL News will follow the progress.
