Search warrants in Michelle Young case to stay sealed longer

Raleigh, N.C. — Three search warrants in the Michelle Young murder case will stay sealed for 10 more days.

Young was found beaten to death in her Wake County home on Nov. 3, 2006. At the time, she was pregnant. There has been no arrest, and authorities have not named any suspects in the case.

The Wake County Sheriff's Office asked that the warrants be remain sealed, saying that releasing the information could hinder their investigation. On Friday, Superior Court Judge Donald Stephens agreed.

Investigators do not think the crime was random. Young was last seen alive at 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 2. Her husband, Jason Young, was out of town on business when his wife's body was found.

In search warrants related to the case, her husband has appeared to be a focus of the investigation. In part, the documents said he had been having a relationship with a Florida woman and that he had refused to talk with investigators. Authorities, however, have not named him as a suspect.

Progress Energy, Young's employer, is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to a conviction in the case.

After watching the NC Wanted special on that case, it really looks like the husband did it. They even found her blood in his car. But still no arrest. It's like the police are scared to make an arrest, or maybe the DA is scared to go to court, unless they have an eyewitness and a murder weapon.

I'd like to know if there was a fax or not, too.

Maybe CSI has just raised all our expectations too high, but I'm starting to get worried about the police's abilty to solve cases. I'm not trying to be harsh, but I'd like to see the solve rate, maybe broken down by severity of the crime. If it doesn't improve, or the public's perception of it, then there is less deterence.

I believe everyone who's followed this story knows who the guilty party is; it's just a matter of whether anyone else was involved in the commission of the deed itself. But rest assured, the guilt of one man is clear and though justice may not always be swift, I believe it will ultimately prevail.

If we are to assume that the only suspect they have is the husband, surely he knows what they took from the houses.

I know WRAL spotlighted this again last weekend or sometime, but no one has ever said if there really was a fax that was waiting at the house, and if there was, where was it from. That seems to me to be a very big clue - if there was no fax, then he obviously sent the sister over there to find the body, but if the sister did indeed find a fax, then it was either innocent or a setup, but the fax just seems very important to me.
