Accident causes traffic delays on Interstate 40

Raleigh police say a drunken driver caused a wreck that closed down part of Interstate 40 for an hour and a half Thursday night.

Investigators say Eugene Gill, 35, of Apex, was driving west near Gorman Street when he crossed the median and hit another car.

That car then spun around and hit another car.

Gill's SUV flipped over. He suffered a broken ankle and some bruises, authorities said.

Crews took three people to the hospital. Everyone was expected to survive.

Authorities charged Gill with felony injury by motor vehicle, three miscellaneous traffic and moving violations, careless and reckless driving and crossing the median.

I heard that the suspect was charged with DWI along with other traffic charges and felony injury by vehicle.

I saw the news at noon they suspect the driver was drunk, can't charge someone until you have at least some evidence

If convicted, revoke his license for 5 years, 1 year in jail, auction the car and make him continue to pay for it if it's financed. No if and or buts.

His life is about to change

When are authorities really going to buckle down and give drunk drivers more than a slap on the wrist?? I am so sick and tired of people driving drunk and hurting others. I think even the first offense should come with prison time. Nip it now!!!
