Raleigh, N.C. — Raleigh police say a drunken driver caused a wreck that closed down part of Interstate 40 for an hour and a half Thursday night.
Investigators say Eugene Gill, 35, of Apex, was driving west near Gorman Street when he crossed the median and hit another car.
That car then spun around and hit another car.
Gill's SUV flipped over. He suffered a broken ankle and some bruises, authorities said.
Crews took three people to the hospital. Everyone was expected to survive.
Authorities charged Gill with felony injury by motor vehicle, three miscellaneous traffic and moving violations, careless and reckless driving and crossing the median.
