Hoke woman gets probation on child neglect charges

April Dru Jimmerson

April Dru Jimmerson was charged with involuntary manslaughter and child abuse after her son, Austin, then 2, was found dead floating in a swimming pool on July 2, 2006.

After months of investigation, authorities said, they learned that Jimmerson had a history of child neglect that led to her son's drowning.

Jimmerson, 26, of Helen's Lane in Lumber Bridge, plead guilty to the charges and spent two days in jail. She will be subject to supervised probation in Hoke County.
