April Dru Jimmerson was charged with involuntary manslaughter and child abuse after her son, Austin, then 2, was found dead floating in a swimming pool on July 2, 2006.

After months of investigation, authorities said, they learned that Jimmerson had a history of child neglect that led to her son's drowning.

Jimmerson, 26, of Helen's Lane in Lumber Bridge, plead guilty to the charges and spent two days in jail. She will be subject to supervised probation in Hoke County.

Another slap on the wrist. And we wonder what's wrong with our society?!!?!!

What exactly do they mean by "a history of negelct"?

Gosh, I hope they're not being too hard on her.

RIP AUSTIN... you are in my thoughts April...

This is not right at all. What is PROBATION? Sounds like an easy way out to me. Are these judges just plain lazy today?
