Five men face charges that they broke into cars in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Hope Mills and then went on a spending spree with stolen credit cards, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said Friday.

Deputies identified the five were Mark Ephron Brown, 20, of 5503 Heather Stone, Hope Mills; Reginald Alan Greene II, 18, of Summerfield Drive, Fayetteville; Derrick LeeAlan Poage, 18, of 3639 Quarter Horse Run, Parkton; Brenden Alex Hair, 17, of 1312 Alexwood Drive, Hope Mills; and Andre James McGrady, 19, of 7530 Cliffbourne Drive, Fayetteville.

The quintet stole satellite radios, a purse and other valuables from at least three cars, sheriff's investigators said. They then spent hundreds of dollars on food, gasoline and other items throughout the county, deputies said.

They were identified from security-camera photos where they made purchases, investigators reported.

Brown, Greene, McGrady and Poage are each charged with three felony counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, misdemeanor larceny, one felony count credit card fraud, one felony count of possession of a weapon of mass destruction and two counts of felony conspiracy.

Hair is charged with three felony counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, misdemeanor larceny, felony possession of a weapon of mass destruction, two counts of felony conspiracy, three counts of misdemeanor speeding, misdemeanor exceeding safe speed and window tinting violation, as well as failure to comply with license restrictions.

Each man was held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $22,000 secured bond, officials said.

I am actually very surprised at one of these young men. I knew Brenden Hair for several years and have always thought he was a good kid and a great young athlete. This is disappointing that he and the rest of these boys have messed up their futures.

Here is a link with pictures of the culprits:

Is anyone suprised?
