A state trooper fired for kicking his dog is now a police officer in Apex.

Charles Jones was fired in September after cell phone video surfaced showing him kicking his canine partner.

Jones says he was disciplining the dog the way he was trained.

Last month, a judge decided the trooper should get his job back. The State Personnel Commission will have the final say.

A call to Jones at the Apex Police Department was not returned.

If I encounter this officer anywhere he will not get my respect or cooperation.

I live in Apex and I have a dog, she is a beloved family pet. I was very disburbed by the video of this man kicking his dog. I am not happy that he is on the Apex police force. The police should be a friend, someone we can call on in time of danger or emergency--not someone to fear! After seeing him hurt that dog, I don't care to have any contact with him, even if I have an emergency. I feel for the people who come into contact with him under unfavorable circumstances.

It amazes me that the town of Apex is either so desperate for police officers and/or has such low standards for hiring police that they would hire this animal abuser.

So, the Highway Patrol stopped their K-9 program, for further review. That should tell us that they trained the trooper wrong.

Of course, the fact that he has been with Apex PD for over 6 months should tell us that WRAL has had a very slow news day, and needed to rehash some old news.

What a nightmare, to know that possibly one or more of you would be deciding my fate after I made a spit second decision in a ditch in the middle of the night----WHILE ALL OF YOU WERE SLEEPING--I have a dog and like him alot, but I wouldn't think twice about kicking him until he was dead if he hurt a human, KEY WORD IS HUMAN.... thank goodness extreme animal lovers are the minority in North Carolina. Like animals, Love humans!
