Interim Lee County school superintendent chosen

The Lee County School System has a new interim leader.

The school board chose Gary Jackson as acting superintendent Wednesday.

Former Superintendent James McCormick resigned earlier this week amid 'immoral conduct' allegations.

Neither McCormick nor school leaders are saying what the alleged inappropriate behavior may have been.

Jackson, the short-term replacement, is a retired educator of 30-years.

The search for a permanent superintendent is on-going.

He was the principal where I work for a while and he is a great guy.

Gary Jackson is a truly good man. I remember him from jr high. He seemed to have time for each and every one of his "kids".

AN GREAT CHOICE, GOOD LEADER AND AM PERSON OF GREAT CHARACTOR

Excellent choice for the job. He was my 8th grade PE coach and he was one of the assistant principals at Lee Senior when I was there.
