Sanford, N.C. — The Lee County School System has a new interim leader.
The school board chose Gary Jackson as acting superintendent Wednesday.
Former Superintendent James McCormick resigned earlier this week amid 'immoral conduct' allegations.
Neither McCormick nor school leaders are saying what the alleged inappropriate behavior may have been.
Jackson, the short-term replacement, is a retired educator of 30-years.
The search for a permanent superintendent is on-going.
