William Mabe, bouncer charged in Tiki Lounge assault in Sanford

Two bouncers at a Sanford bar have been charged with beating a customer with a metal chair and a pipe, police said.

William Nicholas Mabe, 30, of Sanford, and John Mark Evans, 31, of Holly Springs, were each charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Mabe was being held in the Lee County Jail without bond, and a $10,000 bond was set for Evans, police said.

Loren Dale Rose was beaten with a chair and a metal pipe at the Tiki Lounge, 105 E. Main St., on June 15, police said. He was taken to Central Carolina Hospital and was later transferred to UNC Hospitals, in Chapel Hill.

There was no word on Rose's condition Tuesday.

Police said they expect to charge a third person in the case.

All in all, he shouldn't have been in there acting stupid.

Absolutely he deserved that at the least! You don't think he does for attacking a guy with a pole and knife!?!?

kruck88 &oldschooltarheel His left eye was gouged out of his head and sewn back in, he may not be able to see out of it again, but I guess you 2 would say he deserved it!

Oh, the poor lil victim - bet he was going in only to ask to use the phone, & ordered a lemonade while waiting for a cab & then... he was terribly picked on, verbally assaulted & then PHYSICALLY assaulted - for NO REASON. Yeah right, some smart stuff troublemaker actually hit a buzzsaw. Yawn, too bad NC taxpayers will likely be footing his medical bill - better than footing illegals' bills I guess.

sww1rb,

To start with they did call the cops. They arrived shortly after it all went down and arrested the friend of the "victim". So what do you suggest they do next time while they are waiting for the cops to show up? Let them in the bar so they can attack several people, maybe kill someone. Or not let them in and get beat with a pipe and stabbed with a knife while not defending them self’s? I do believe that if you felt your life was threatened and you had no where to go and had to fight for your life or to protect others you would have done the exact same. It's apparently ok for you to shoot someone with a gun and kill them if you feel threatened but if you fight back with your fist until you don't feel they are a threat anymore you are charged with attempted murder? Ridiculous I tell you.
