Fort Bragg, N.C. — An 82nd Airborne Division paratrooper died Monday from injuries suffered when his Humvee was struck by an improvised explosive device southeast of Hillah, Iraq, authorities said Friday.
Spc. Jason Cox, 21, from Elyria, Ohio, was a cavalry scout with Alpha Troop, 3rd Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team. He joined the Army in March 2006 and has been deployed in Iraq for the past year.
Cox is survived by his parents, Gregory and Kathy Cox, of Elyria, Ohio, and two brothers.
