High court to hear strip club case

e-mail print friendly

The state Supreme Court has agreed to hear a zoning case involving a proposed strip club in Raleigh.

"The Runway" has been proposed for a site on Mount Herman Church Road near Raleigh-Durham International Airport, but nearby residents have fought the club for years, saying it would harm the area.

After Raleigh officials granted the club a special permit to operate, opponents sued. The state Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the club, but the Supreme Court on Friday issued an order that it would hear from club opponents.

Colliedave", the proposed location is in that same general area. Just go down Westgate and the next turn after Glenwood is Mt. Herman Church Road if I am not mistaken.

If they keep in the area next to the porn shops, I believe that is the location where it belongs. This is far enough from homes and restuarants.

how close are these neighbors? Or is this just another case of someone pushing their morality on as many as possible?

I just hope they don't use much water!!!

Private business - no one forces you to go there - don't like it, then don't go there. Conservatives and Libertarians believe government should stay out of private enterprise - it is not the conservatives or the libertarians that are opposing this business, it is the liberals who believe big government must control everyones' lives.

I hope the Supreme Court honors the permits issued by Raleigh and allows this business to open - if it fails due to lack of business, so be it. But I doubt it will - most strip clubs, if they are classy, make lots of money and have a very large customer base.

I choose not to attend, but that is my choice. The government should not tell me what I can and cannot do unless it has a serious impact on someone else's rights. Don't see that here.

funky - maybe, but they can save on A/C costs.
