Survey: Raleigh businesses don't plan on job growth

A survey by a company that provides temporary workers indicates that Raleigh employers do not have a positive vision of the immediate economic future.

According to Manpower Inc., 4 percent of companies plan to hire more people in the third quarter of 2008. Nearly a third of businesses reported that they planned on adding jobs during the same time period in 2007.

The new survey also showed that 19 percent, or nearly one in five, of companies plan to reduce their payrolls.

Sixty-nine percent of businesses said they will maintain their current staffing levels.
