Some North Carolina soldiers returned from Iraq Saturday.

Soldiers from the 1132nd Military Police Company, North Carolina National Guard arrived at the Gulfport International Airport in Mississippi.

The Rocky Mount headquartered National Guard Company deployed to Iraq in September 2007 along with a small platoon sized group from the New Hampshire National Guard.

During their deployment, the 1132nd served with great distinction and suffered the heaviest casualties of any North Carolina National Guard Company since World War II.

The unit is scheduled to complete active duty out-processing and return to the state early this week, possibly Tuesday.

A welcome home ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday in Rocky Mount.
