Siler City, N.C. — Deputies identified the child whose body was found in pool Sunday as 2-year-old Timothy Austin Parnell, of Siler City.
Deputies said a neighbor found Timothy in an above-ground pool in the back yard of his home at 100 Piney Bluff Road around 8:30 a.m. The boy was unresponsive at the time, and efforts to resucitate him were unsuccessful.
Investigators said the cause of death appeared to be drowning. The body was sent to the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill for the cause to be determined.
The boy's father was inside the house when the neighbor found Timothy in the pool, deputies said.
Deputies and the state Department of Social Services continued to investigate Monday.
