print friendly

Authorities on Thursday identified a CSX rail worker who was killed Monday when he was buried by 150 tons of coal.

Eli Locklear, a conductor, was unloading a train loaded with coal at the Weatherspoon Plant, a coal-fired power plant owned by Progress Energy, Monday afternoon when he became trapped under a pile of coal, authorities said.

Locklear either fell or was pulled into the stream of coal as it dumped into storage bins at the plant, authorities said.
