Station's pumps don't like rising gas prices

Fuquay-Varina, N.C. — One area gas station has stopped selling mid-grade and premium fuel because prices have outpaced its pumps.

The Express Mart on Main Street in Fuquay-Varina has older-model pumps – some won't register more than $2.99 a gallon, and most won't go over $3.99, a manager said.

The manager said he has ordered equipment to change the prices, but the station will have to stop selling gas altogether if regular gas tops $4 a gallon before the equipment arrives.

Maybe the owner just needs to take a stand and stop selling gas all together and see what the oil companies do. Myabe if station owners get involved the oil companies will get the point.

The thing that really irritates me (other than the price of gas) is the stations that are charging close to $4/gallon and their pumps don't work properly, the cut off, the gas nozzles are in bad shape. If you are going to charge this much at least let us pump this liquid gold properly.

Steve, I remember that when they did that they change the distribution to half gallons.

When I was first driving and gas hit $1.00 per gallon, a lot of the pumps couldn't handle it then. So they took the price of gas, divided it by two, and that was the pump price with the very visible instructions to double the price readout to determine your actual cost.
