e-mail print friendly

A Goldsboro woman is accused of using her boyfriend's identity to apply for a credit card and stealing it from his mailbox when it arrived.

Lemeka Angeria Kornegay, 26, of 173-B Millers Chapel Road, was arrested Monday and charged with one count of financial identity theft and one count of financial transaction card theft.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office said a collection agency contacted Kornegay's boyfriend, Jamar Patterson, about an outstanding balance on a credit card in his name.

Patterson contacted authorities, who traced the card to Kornegay, the sheriff's office said.

Kornegay was in the Wayne County Jail Monday under a $7,500 bond.

If you're in a relationship with a person, why would you steal from them or make their credit bad?!!! So when you marry them you would have to live in a box! Dumb move lady.

And did she really think she wouldn't get caught??? C'mon!

coowill - a very good comment. So how does one protect themselves when we are legal. If you are illegal, no problem.

What about all theses illegals, the federal judge want even let home land security send out the no match letters? If some one used some one else’s social security number to gain a job or government aid they also should be charged for identity theft, oh I get it you can only be charged if you are a legal US citizen. My bad.

Girlfriends will get your money, but not usually so directly.....
