Tarboro residents win battle to ban adult bookstore
A zoning ordinance would not allow adult establishments within 1,000 feet of day cares, schools, parks, churches and residential areas.
Posted — UpdatedPlans for the Majestic Adult Center, an adult book and video store taking over the old Majestic Theatre, shook Tarboro earlier this year.
Residents and neighboring business owners raised such a fuss that Majestic owner Ronnie Wiggins decided in March to abandon his plans for the store.
Town leaders passed a new zoning ordinance Tuesday to preclude another attempt.
The law would not allow adult establishments within 1,000 feet of day cares, schools, parks, churches and residential areas.
