Peace officers memorial service held in Durham

The Durham Fraternal Order of Police and Durham law enforcement agencies held a peace officers memorial service on Wednesday.

The service at Union Baptist Church, 904 North Roxboro St., honored the sacrifice of law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. 

Among those recognized were: Gill Cates, Ronald Gill, J. Clarence Price, Larry Bullock, Gary Fletcher, Billy Gregory, Charles Callemyn, Will Hall, Onus Hall and William “Tommy” Land.

Durham Police Chief Jose Lopez Sr. was the keynote speaker.

A statewide memorial is planned for downtown Raleigh on Thursday.
