DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham teen faces robbery and weapons charges stemming from an incident on Monday afternoon.

Marquaseo Andrews, 18, of Wabash Street, was arrested on Tuesday. He is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, going armed to the terror of the public, assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm within the city limits.

Officers responded to a disturbance with a weapon call on Ridgeway Avenue on Monday. When they arrived, they found an injured male inside an apartment on Wabash Street. The male, identified as Andrews, had suffered head injuries and was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment.

At the scene a 21-year-old male told officers he had been in his car on Ridgeway Avenue when a teen approached him, pointed a gun at him and said, “Give it up.” The teen then fired several shots at the victim, but the victim was not injured. The victim was robbed of his wallet, jewelry and a cell phone.

The victim told officers he saw the teen in a field near Ridgeway Avenue a short time later and drove after him through the field. The victim told officers the teen fired shots at him and one bullet struck the victim’s vehicle. The victim then struck the teen with his vehicle, causing the teen to roll onto the hood and hit his head on the windshield, according to police.

The victim followed the teen into an apartment on Wabash Street, where the victim demanded the return of his property and hit the teen several times before sheriff’s deputies were able to break up the disturbance.

The teen, later identified as Andrews, was taken to Duke for treatment. He was released from the hospital Tuesday and taken to Durham County Jail.

Andrews is being held on a $250,000 bond.
