Raleigh, N.C. — More than 260 volunteers helped clean up the Neuse River on Saturday and among the odd finds was a beer bottle filled with $600.
Volunteer Melinda Hunnicutt found the bottle, which wasn’t the only unusual item in river. Other items included, a recliner, baby car seat, cell phone, toy wagon and a skull.
In total volunteers hauled away 9,260 pounds of debris.
The Neuse River Spring Clean Up covered 50 miles of the Neuse River between Falls Dam in North Raleigh to Smithfield Town Commons in Johnston County. It also included a 15-mile stretch on Crabtree Creek as well as a section in the lower Neuse River in Craven County.
