Hospital Won't Lose Status as Medicaid/Medicare Provider

Franklin Regional Medical Center

Franklin Regional Medical Center won't lose its status as a health provider under the federal requirements that allow it to bill Medicare and Medicaid for patient treatment.

That's according to a hospital spokeswoman who said state inspectors were on-site Friday to see if the hospital corrected problems that threatened it's ability to get reimbursed by the two government insurance programs.

The only hospital in Franklin County, Franklin Regional had until March 30 to improve its quality of health care.

There were several problems with its governance, medical staff, nursing services and laboratory services.

Beyond those general areas of concern, neither the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services nor Franklin Regional will say what the problems were.
