Fayetteville, N.C. — A body found in some Cumberland County woods late Tuesday isn't that of a missing cab driver, police said.
William James Simon, 61, has been missing since last Thursday. He last called his boss at L&M Taxi Service late that night to say he was taking a fare from Fayetteville to Raleigh.
His abandoned cab was found in Spring Lake the following day.
A body found Tuesday in woods off Sycamore Dairy Road near Legend Avenue is that of a 47-year-old man, police said. They believe he was homeless and died of natural causes.
Another homeless man found the body just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and ran to call police. An autopsy will determine his exact cause of death, police said.
