A Raleigh man was indicted Monday on a charge of second-degree murder in connection with a DWI crash that killed a Cary man earlier this month.

Police said Kenya Teveris Alston, 31, of 247 Big Oak St., was driving drunk on March 1 when he slammed into the back of Matthew Paul Kraft's car at more than 70 mph.

Kraft, 21, a waiter at a Cary's Chili's, died the next day at WakeMed.

Alston was also indicted on speeding to elude an officer, driving while impaired and hit and run.

He was still listed in the Wake County Jail Tuesday under a $530,000 secured bond.

Oncomingstorm yes Chilis is doing a collection for Matt with the donations going to St Judes children hospital. This tragedy has been very hard on his family and we thank WRAL for keeping us relatives from his hometown of Sayre, Pa informed. For them calling Matt a Chilis waiter that is no big deal because when people read that they will instantly think of Matt and remember there experiences at Chilis and what a great Person Matt was. If Matt was still with us he would just say I could be called worse . Hopefully this tradegy will help save one persons life.IF YOU HAVE TO GO OUT TO DRINK BE RESPONSIBLE CALL A CAB OR BETTER YET SIT HOME AND DRINK!!I hope noone has to experience this type of tragedy,A young man with his whole life ahead of him and it was taken away because of a drunk running from the cops.

re: the teardrop tattoo: it can mean that they are mourning someone who has died, but more often than not it means they have killed someone. ironic in this particular case.

Yes, he worked at Chili's and the staff there had a great love for the guy. Apparently the guy had prior convictions and the reporter here didn't do the work of going to the DOC website to determine what they are; even a prior DUI conviction would be part of the story.

I think the reason they mentioned Chili's is that there was a series of pretty cool stories about how the people at Chili's had a memorial service for him and collected money for him. When I saw the headline I knew exactly who they were talking about because I had read the prior stories. So I don't think WRAL deserves any bad mouthing for that.

"is that a teardrop tattoo or a birthmark next to his eye? if it's a tattoo, then he's a gang member who has already committed violence"

i'm in no way condoning this man's behavior, but i'd like a little more information about this post. Does any tatoo mean your a gang member, or just tear drop tatoos?
