e-mail print friendly

Chatham County Sheriff's deputies arrested two men March 19 after a chase that reached speeds topping 100 mph.

Paul Stanly, 38, of Greensboro, led law enforcement officers on a chase that involved multiple agencies and began in Randleman and ended on N.C. Highway 421 just south of N.C. Highway 64. His car was ultimately stopped by the "Stinger Stop Stick System” which pokes holes in the tires of a fleeing vehicle, triggering a gradual release of air.

Officers found 141 grams of marijuana and recovered $167 cash in the vehicle.

Stanly was charged with felony possession with intent to sell/deliver a controlled substance, felony possession of schedule VI controlled substance and felony maintaining a dwelling for the possession/sale of a controlled substance and placed in Chatham County Jail under a $49,000 secured bond.

His passenger, Mickel Almanza, 25, of Randleman, was charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver and Felony Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance.
