A former YMCA worker facing sex charges involving a minor was out of jail on a reduced bond Monday.

Kim Sunsik Kelly, 36, of 306 Rutherglen Drive in Cary, faces charges of sexual battery and solicitation of child by computer to commit an unlawful sex act.

He was scheduled to appear in court again Monday, nearly two weeks after a judge lowered his bond from $25,000 to $10,000.

Kelly, who worked for less than 60 days at the Southwest Wake YMCA in Apex, allegedly inappropriately touched a 16-year-old YMCA counselor.  Apex police laid those charges against him in mid January.

Earlier in January, Kelly was caught up in an undercover investigation by the national Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Investigators said he asked an Internet user he believed to be a child to meet him in person to perform sexual acts. Buncombe County sheriff's deputies arrested him when he showed up at the designated meeting spot.

"Whoever made that decision should be held 100% accountible for this guys actions should he commit another crime against a child."

The guy was caught attempting to actually meet with a child for sex. And he innappropriately touched an underage counselor. Now the court has turned him loose on society again. Whoever made that decision should be held 100% accountible for this guys actions should he commit another crime against a child. Why is he free to continue to live among us, even for a short time until his court date. This guy is the scum on the bottom of the barrell...a child molester. What's it going to take before the court system starts protecting the public from people like him?

Are these guys who couldn't make it with women their own age? Or does it go deeper than that into predation? Or is it a combination?

At any rate, they need to be tossed somewhere where society will be safe from them for the rest of their born days.

Praying for his victim and for his family.

God bless.

Rev. RB
