Smithfield, N.C. — North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to a series of accidents along I-95 in Johnston County Friday.
Officials said a tractor trailer with tire problems had left a trail of debris between mile markers 96 and 97. Cars swerving to miss the debris caused at least four minor accidents and back-ups lasted most of the morning.
Troopers were clearing the area by early afternoon.
