Two detention officers at the Durham County Jail were injured Thursday morning during a "small-scale disturbance," authorities said.

The detention officers were trying to quell a fight between two inmates when one of the inmates attempted to assault a third inmate, authorities said. The disturbance was defused quickly, authorities said.

The detention officers, whose names weren't released, were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, authorities said.

The inmates involved in the disturbance weren't injured, authorities said.
