Clinton, N.C. — The Campbell University professor killed in a car crash over the weekend will be laid to rest Thursday.
Visitation is Wednesday night at at the Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton. The funeral for Lewis M. Fetterman Jr. will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church in Clinton.
Police say Alejandro Antonio Rivas crossed the median Saturday night on U.S. Highway 701 in Sampson County and crashed into a car driven by the pharmacy professor. Rivas also died in the crash.
Joni-Fay Watts Fetterman, 56, the professor's wife and passenger, was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.
Troopers said Rivas, of 264 Preston Lane, is thought to have had alcohol in his system. Toxicology reports have not been released yet. The 46-year-old was not a licensed driver, troopers said.
