UNC Siren Tested Successfully

e-mail print friendly

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill tested a siren system Wednesday. The audible alerts are part of the Alert Carolina program.

The sirens, once implemented will warn students, faculty and staff about potentially dangerous situations on campus.

North Carolina State University tested a similar siren system across campus earlier this month.

These are outdoor warning sirens and are not designed to be heard indoors.

I guess it works fine if you are standing outside. My office is in a building almost right in the middle of two of the sirens, we didn't hear a thing.

Probably because Ty Lawson is back playing hoops again. At least, if you listen to the sports casters, pretty much everything around here was negatively affected by his absence. Seriously, I hope this system will never have to be used again but if it does, let's pray it is successful.
