Wendell, N.C. — People cleaning out a barn just outside of Wendell Tuesday evening got a surprise: what looked like a World War II-era explosive.
Authorities said the explosive found at 6317 Weathers Road was a training device and did not pose a danger.
Several families who lived nearby left their houses until authorities determined it was safe for them to return.
