N.C. State to Collect Money for Eve Carson Memorial

e-mail print friendly

North Carolina State University Student Government members will be collecting money in the brickyard from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday for the Eve Carson Memorial Fund.

The money will go toward a scholarship or a memorial in Carson’s name. People can donate cash or checks made out to the Eve Carson Memorial Fund.

Carson was the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill student body president slain earlier this month in Chapel Hill. Two men face murder charges in that case.

This is a wonderful jesture, but what about others that have been killed. I think way too much attention has been put on this particular murder that would not have been done if the student had been an average person - not a Morehead Scholar and Student Body President. I have a daughter that was killed by another person in an auto accident, but we didn't get headlines in the newspaper and all kinds of media attention.

Good grief, are they collecting money for Mahato too, you know he was killed by the SAME individual and working on a Doctorate, he wasn't chopped liver!

This is very thoughtful of the NCSU students.

Class act. And I agree ref the Duke student. Why not split the final amount.

AppStateMountaineer... I agree. And it's not that I'm trying to put down what NCSU is doing. I think it's great to memorialize your peers in such a generous manner. However, some sort of fund for the Duke student could be quite useful, too. From what I've been told he was very promising and bright - maybe not high profile, but he had high aspirations. Those are the sort of people we need in the world.
