I found the gotriangle.org website very difficult to use...not that I'd ride the bus anyways, just sayin'.

I live in Durham and just looked up the trip planner for our DATA system. The first leg of my trip involves walking .75 of a mile into an area that I do NOT want to be walking into at 6:45 in the morning. I walk a lot and don't mind the .75 walk, but not to that area at that time of day.

It also said that Durham has 43 buses. 43 buses for the whole city? No wonder they're like Yeti sightings in my neighbornood.

The roads would be more crowded if the 13% ridership increase, and the existing ridership before that, were driving instead.

My trip from RTP to home is 70 minutes via TTA, including a half mile walk from office to bus stop, an RTP transfer, and a half mile walk from Moore Square to home. If it takes you two hours, you are stuck in traffic on 40 or you are lying. My travel time would be shorter if I was on the west side of downtown near Hillsborough St. or used the park and ride.

gotriangle.org is a good starting place for those challenged by reading bus schedules, though I learned that skill in the 6th grade.

Carpooling requires a group of people with similar schedules who live *and* work somewhat close to each other. Good for some, but not all. Buses are good for people who don't own a car or choose not to.

CAT raised fares to an even $1, which was long overdue. There won't be another far increase unless gas costs rise. TTA is cheaper with $3/gal gas.

I went to www.gotriangle.org in order to see the route from home to work. 2 miles of walking, 2 bus transfers and 1:50 minutes later - I would be there. This makes me want to put the car keys down and ride.

13% increase, but how many people ride the bus on average each day? Percentages can be used to make things looks better than they are, and I suspect that's the case here. Unfortunate to see WRAL shilling for the Triangle choo-choo train lobby again!
