Raleigh, N.C. — The North Carolina Education Lottery set a record last week, selling $29.9 million in tickets, officials said Monday.
“All of us at the lottery are thrilled that our efforts are really starting to pay off,” lottery director Tom Shaheen said in a statement. “Higher sales translate into more money for education, which is what we are all about.”
The previous weekyl record was $27.7 mllion, which was set last month. The lottery sells about $18 million in tickets on an average week.
