Teen Killed in Johnston County Wreck

e-mail print friendly

A senior at Smithfield's Princeton School was killed Sunday evening in a wreck in Johnston County.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said that shortly before 6 p.m., Caitlyn Bell pulled in front of a Ford Explorer at the intersection of Brogden and Old Sanders roads. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Riley Boyette, a passenger in Bell’s vehicle, was transported to Johnston Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Martin Herrera, 31, who was driving the Explorer was charged with driving without a license, but the Highway Patrol said she will not be charged in connection with the collision since Bell failed to yield the right of way.

Herrera and her two passengers were not seriously injured.

Such a sad thing. She was a beautiful young girl with a bright future ahead. We sometimes wonder about things such as this. I last was her at church yesterday and she always seemed so happy.

God didn't cause this precious girl to run a stop sign. She did that in a moment of distraction or confusion all on her own. God didn't pre-ordain it, plan it, want it or cause it. God doesnt' "set us up" for pain. He provides our every need. God gave that girl the opportunity to do as she saw fit. But, he doesn't hover over us with a safety net or glass shield. God gives us control over our lives day-to-day decisions and the big ones, too, such as whether or not we will believe in Him in order to have ever lasting life in heaven. I hope that is where this child is now.

This is so sad. i have a 19 year old at ecu and just the other day someone pulled out in front of her, she swerved to miss and wrecked her car, and the girl who caused the accident had a wreck free car and really didn't care that she caused the accident.

Our Heavenly Father called another "Angel" home, Godspeed...............

Caitlyn was a beautiful and loving young girl. Everyone of us that knew her have a broken heart today.
