Bullets Strike Durham Bus

e-mail print friendly

Several bullets struck a Durham Area Transit Authority bus during a shooting near a park Thursday evening, police said.

Police received calls about a shooting in Walltown Park, at 1300 West Club Blvd., shortly after 5:38 p.m. When officers arrived, several juveniles ran from the park area, saying that someone was shooting in the park.

About 13 people on a DATA bus heard the shots and took cover, while the bus driver drove to a safer location. Once there, the driver found several bullet holes in the bus, police said.

No one was injured during the shooting.

Police did not know the motive or name any suspects. The Criminal Investigation Division was picking up the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt. Jack Cates at 919-560-4440, ext. 262 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.

is the mayor ever going to try to stop all the crime in his town....does he even care? ever day theres at least one story on teh news about durham

It so sad that innocent people who don't have a car or rely on public transportation can't ride the bus without fear of being shot. What is going on with Durham? Something needs to be done soon.

gotta love durham!

just another day in paradise

In the words of mayor Bell... 'Durham does not have a crime problem.'.
