Sanford, N.C. — Several roads in Lee County will be closed in the next week as CSX replaces railroad ties at local train crossings, officials said.
Hancock Crossing, Greenwood and Joe Mathews roads, all in Lemon Springs, were closed Wednesday. Garden and Field streets in Sanford were expected to be closed Thursday, and McIver, Charlotte and Chisholm streets in Sanford were to be closed on March 10.
Each crossing was expected to be closed for about 24 hours to complete the tie-replacement project. The project started in Cameron on Monday and will end in Cary in April, officials said.
Drivers are asked to follow posted detours or seek alternate routes.
