Chapel Hill, N.C. — UNC announced plans Monday to test a new campus alert system. The university's siren system will be tested in Chapel Hill March 19 between 11 a.m. and noon.
The siren test kicks off the Alert Carolina safety campaign designed to educate the campus community about what to do in the event of an emergency. Students will also be urged to sign up to receive text messages from campus authorities in case of emergency.
