Wake Forest, N.C. — A clerk in a Wake Forest convenience store was shot during a robbery Friday night, and police were searching for the gunman.
The Quality Food Mart, at 2206 S. Main St., was robbed at about 8:30 p.m. Friday, and a clerk was shot once, police said.
The clerk, whose name wasn't released, managed to call 911 after the shooting. He was in surgery at WakeMed late Friday, and there was no word on his condition.
The robber fled the store and was seen running north on South Main Street, police said.
He was described as a black man between 5 feet, 5 inches and 5 feet, 9 inches tall. He had dreadlocks and was wearing a red shirt or jacket.
Police were reviewing video from the store's security camera late Friday to try to identify the robber.
