Durham, N.C. — Police on Tuesday identified the man killed in a single-vehicle wreck on Saturday morning.
Michael Lee Clements, 57, of Durham, was killed when his 1997 Ford Explorer swerved across South Roxboro Street near Jackie Robinson Drive and struck a utility pole, police said.
Investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine a cause of death, but they said they believe Clements might have had a medical condition that caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
A second vehicle was damaged when the driver swerved to avoid colliding with the Explorer, police said.
Mark Doerstling, of Mebane, was driving a 2003 Toyota Camry north in the far left lane when the Explorer started drifting toward his car, police said. He ran off the road to the left and struck a street sign, but he wasn't injured.
The wreck disrupted traffic on South Roxboro Street for about three hours.
