Medical Board Suspends 2 Physicians' Licenses

e-mail print friendly

The North Carolina Medical Board has suspended the licenses of two area physicians.

Dr. Johnny Eugene Gaston, a Fayetteville pediatrician, agreed to an indefinite suspension of his license after an investigation raised questions about his ability to practice medicine safely. Patients had complained to state regulators about Gaston's personal appearance, unsanitary conditions in his office and his prescribing practices, authorities said.

Dr. Rodney K. Sessoms, who practiced internal medicine in Clinton, also agreed to an indefinite suspension. A complaint about Sessoms' treatment of a patient last March prompted the medical board to order him to undergo a mental examination, which raised questions about his ability to practice medicine safely, authorities said.

Now this is stunning news. 1.) Licenses are suspended, 2.) the names become public knowledge without having someone do extensive searching of records and requesting the information be released! Amazing.
