Roanoke Rapids city leaders consulted lawyers Monday to see how much they are required to pay singer Randy Parton.

Parton, who used to have his name on the theater in town, was dismissed from his singing duties in November.  Under the contract, Roanoke Rapids must pay Parton $250,000 a year, regardless of whether he performs.

I need to get in touch with HIS lawyer. I'm thinking about re-negotiating my contract, and his deal sounds pretty good...don't work and get paid $250K.

Exactly MadBiker. I still can't get over how poorly that contract was written. Their attorney must have gotten his license out of a cereal box.

Imagine an employment contract where you got paid your salary whether you showed up for work or not! Didn't the town use an attorney to write this contract??

Should all this been taken care of before now? What kind of leaders are we electing/appointing to head our state, cities, country that fail to neglect such important issues.

i think the place would make a pretty truck stop!
